🌿 Hey there, I’m Adrienne!
The hands (and sometimes bandaids) behind The Glass Thumb.
I’m a Platte County native, wife, mom, and lifelong art lover who somehow turned an unplanned stained-glass class from Andrea Denning and help from fellow glass artist friend Ryann into a full-blown creative business. For years, you could find my husband, Josh, and me hauling tables and glass displays to weekend markets and pop-ups all over the area — meeting so many of you along the way, one handmade succulent at a time. My work also found its way into some amazing shops and spaces. Since opening the storefront, I haven’t been able to keep up with stocking those locations quite as often — but I’m hopeful to bring that back again soon. Seeing my glass sprinkled throughout those spaces (and your homes!) has always been one of my favorite parts of this journey. What started as a small creative escape in my home studio (and still is) eventually grew into my very own storefront in historic Weston, MO a town that already felt like home after years spent with my family’s former business, Charlemagne’s Restaurant, and now the National Silk Art Museum (right next door!).
My designs are inspired by nature, plants, and a love for things that feel perfectly imperfect. Alongside my tumbled glass jewelry and ornaments, I craft every piece by hand with the help of Nova, my WAZER waterjet cutter who assists on some designs and plenty of late-night hours. I still handle every step, from cutting and foiling to soldering (my favorite part!).
These days, I’ve also expanded into sustainable upcycled clothing and fun merch, because creativity deserves to keep evolving. From the very beginning, every glass plant has been paired with its own upcycled planter, keeping sustainability and originality at the heart of everything I make.
I couldn’t do any of this without my family and my right-hand-gal Kristy, who helps keep the shop (and me) running through late-night prep sessions and busy festival weekends.
Thank you for supporting this local artist who still gets giddy knowing her work is shining in your homes, offices, and windows. It’s an honor every single time. Truly, pinch me!
Always in bloom. Always made with heart.xoxo - A
